At Elks Lodge #1718 of Port Clinton, our commitment to enriching our community is at the heart of everything we do. That's why we're thrilled to share that our dedication has been recognized and rewarded with the prestigious Beacon Grant.
Thanks to the Elks National Foundation, we've been granted $4,000 to further our mission of community service. This generous funding has been allocated to two pivotal local causes: St Vincent de Paul and the Port Clinton City Schools, specifically to support the newly established Carole’s Cupboard at Bataan Primary.
Our aim is clear: to tackle and mitigate food scarcity in our community, ensuring that every family has access to the nutrition they need. Read on to find out more about these organizations and how you can help.
Our donation of $2,000 to St Vincent de Paul is a step forward in our fight against hunger. This contribution directly supports their food pantry operations, providing essential nutrition to families in need. The pantry, located at 129 Maple Street, operates every other Thursday from 4:00 PM until all food is distributed. Serving an average of 100 families on a first-come, first-serve basis, the pantry is a beacon of hope for those within the Port Clinton School District who meet the State of Ohio's financial criteria.
Continued Support Needed: The journey doesn't end here. The ongoing success of St Vincent de Paul's pantry relies heavily on the generosity of volunteers and further donations. If you're moved by the cause and wish to contribute, whether through volunteering your time or making a donation, please contact the Immaculate Conception office at 419-734-4004. Every effort counts in making a significant difference in the lives of our community members.
With the other half of our Beacon Grant, we've proudly supported Bataan Primary by funding Carole’s Cupboard. This initiative is a testament to our lodge’s commitment to ensuring no child goes hungry. Carole’s Cupboard addresses a critical need, offering access to food for families of school-age children who might not be able to visit food pantries due to work schedules. This program is more than a pantry; it's a lifeline for those juggling the demands of life and the well-being of their children.
